you better be ready to hit the ground and start running.  Opportunities may come, but it waits for no one!  Many of us must create our own opportunities to make it in the direction we want to go and allow space for folks to come knocking at our door for a change.  J-Hatch is exactly that person, as an entrepreneur in the entertainment business, he is well respected by both sides of the coin (mainstream and independent companies supports the work of J-Hatch) and is humbly able to work with his teammates to make a vision come into fruition.  He makes it known that there is no time to waste as he switches roles from being the host of his own showcase that provides underground artists the opportunity to make themselves a celebrity, to partnering up an run two companies in the music market.

On the phone with J-Hatch:

iFLOW:  How are you today?  

J-Hatch: I am feeling good and still breathing.  I am doing wonderful today.  

iFLOW:  What is it exactly that you do? 

J-Hatch: I own two companies.  I pretty much handle everything from publicity to promotion, production and project management. I am a jack of all trades (per say). 

iFLOW:  Wow, that is impressive for you to do all of these things and be one person.  What are the names of your businesses? 

J-Hatch: Inasirkl Music Group; which is owned by my business partner Drawzilla and myself. Inasirkl is a production and management company that also represents the “Get Your Buzz Up” Brand.  

iFLOW:  What about your second company? 

J-Hatch: iStandard iNC; I own and operated with Don Di Napoli. We have a showcase that specifically features up-and-coming music producers in eight states including New York, Florida, California, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Nevada.   

iFLOW: Sounds like you have your hands tied! Is all of this specifically focused on the music industry? 

J-Hatch:  Except for the media stuff that we do. But, for the most part, yes it all revolves around music in general. 

iFLOW:  Amongst all other career paths, why did you choose music as your industry of choice? 

J-Hatch: This is my passion! It is where I started from; it's where I am, and this is where I am going. 

iFLOW: You have quite a reputation for yourself. You come highly recommended in the businesses. What started all of this? 

J-Hatch: I started as a hip hop rapper. I was managed by Vance Wright; Slick Rick’s DJ. It eventually turned into more of a business opportunity. I still write songs for my producer’s tracks; it is more hopes for placement to participate in major projects. 

iFLOW:   You have many connections and it seems like you are walking the line between mainstream and independent markets; which do you prefer?  

J-Hatch: It is my job to help the underground to get to the mainstream and be successful at doing so. Previously, I was and artist and I understand their grind. 

iFLOW: Word is you have your own public relations firm? Is that true? 

J-Hatch: Yes, that is all covered under iStandard iNC. We represent Midi Mafia (they produced for Fantasia, J-Lo, and 50 Cent); we consult projects for Sha Money and VH-1. We also represent up-and-coming artists (including but not limited to) L.E.P (Low End Professionals) from Chicago, Illinois; Chop Dezol of South Carolina; and the League of New York.  

iFLOW: Do you have any artists of your own that you represent? How are things going with that? 

J-Hatch: Yes, we are creating an incredible buzz for Sic Osyrus. He is being featured at all main websites, magazines, and radio stations. Sic Osyrus is an artist that stands out and his stage presence grabbed my attention the first time I saw him during a performance in New York City.  

iFLOW:  Seems like your plate is full! How do you balance everything out and still get sleep? 

J-Hatch: First off, I will sleep when I die. People always see me as the person up front and during events; but I have a great team working behind me. It’s not just me; my team helps me to reach our goal. 

iFLOW: You are known as the mogul of the underground! You have a staff; you have two great companies, and you even have your own artists. What is next on your plate since you already have the meat and potatoes? 

J-Hatch: The next step is a new radio show, new television show, a hard copy magazine, and urban online community that all be under the brand of “Get Your Buzz Up.” 

iFLOW: Since you are helping many starving artists have direction; do you consider yourself to be the reverend or preacher of the underground markets? 

J-Hatch: It is funny because someone called me the Mayor of the underground at a showcase.  I see the unmasked potential of the underground that other people don’t see. 

iFLOW: Where is your office located? 

J-Hatch: Right in the heart of Manhattan. We also started a branch in Miami, Florida.
